ABOUT US:

Our Offices are located at 375-379 Thimann Labs,UC Santa Cruz.
Here we
house the MARC, IMSD (formaly known as MBRS) and CAMP programs.

 
 

The MARC (Minority Access to Research Careers) Program offers research training to participating students to help prepare them to compete successfully for entry into graduate programs leading to the Ph.D. in the biological sciences or into a combined MD/Ph.D. program. Funded through the National Institute of Health, the MARC program's goals are to increase the numbers and capabilities of minority scientists and to prepare students for careers in biomedical research and/or teaching. MARC is an honors program. Acceptance is competitive and based on above average academic preparation and performance.

The IMSD (Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity, formally known as MBRS) Program provides participating students with the opportunity to receive an in-depth experience in the academic and experimental aspects of biological research. Funded through the National Institute of Health, the program consists of a laboratory-training program during the summer and laboratory research projects during the academic year. Graduates of the program have been able to enroll in a wide variety of graduate programs, internships, and professional schools.

IMSD AWARD
An hourly-based salary with a maximum of $3000 during the summer and $400/month during the school year.

CAMP is a statewide initiative that aims to support and retain underrepresented undergraduates to achieve their degrees in the biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the CAMP program provides research opportunities for undergraduates at UCSC. CAMP students can participate in summer research or attend the Summer Institute with the MARC and IMSD students.
